Bio-methane is the fuel of choice for this experience : today, its environmental benefits are quite well recognized while the environmental goals set by the swedish Public Transportation Authorities are very tough. That is why these companies are looking for the right equipment to convert their current fleet of diesel buses to a LBG and Dual Fuel technology.

Several companies take part in this project : bus companies as Swebus AB or Gamla Uppsala Buss AB and LBG production plants as ScandinavianGtS AB. So these companies are in search for partners, providers of dual fuel technology functional with LBG/LNG (liquified Biogas and Liquified Natural Gas). The equipement will have to be made and tested for two kinds of engines : Volvo B12 model 2002 and MAN OM 906 LA 111/4. The project will have to begin soon, initially by building of knowledge. Then, this stage will be followed by a pilot test of installing the concept in eight buses in the city of Uppsala. This equipement ought to be installed no later than December of 2009. If the tests are sucessful, the concept will be developped throughout Sweden and possibly in other countries. In Sweden, other bus companies already expressed a great interest in the test results, which together include fleets totaling over 2000 buses.

The project will be carried out in cooperation with Biogas Öst, a regional project that promotes the use of bio-methane in Sweden and will provide the project with its large regional, national and international network.
